Installation Guide
Install Form2Contacts to automatically create Google Contacts from your form submissions.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure you have:
- A Google account with access to Google Forms
- Permission to install add-ons (check with your organization admin if needed)
- A compatible web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge)
Step 1: Access the Marketplace
Option A: From Google Forms
- Open any Google Form or create a new one
- Click on the three dots menu (⋮) in the top right
- Select Add-ons
- Search for "Form2Contacts" in the marketplace
Option B: Direct Link
- Visit the Google Workspace Marketplace
- Search for "Form2Contacts"
- Click on the Form2Contacts listing
Step 2: Install the Add-on
- Click the blue Install button
- Choose whether to install for:
- Individual use (just for you)
- Domain install (requires admin permissions)
- Review the permissions requested:
- Access to your Google Forms
- Create and manage Google Contacts
- Run when forms are submitted
- Display sidebars and dialogs
- Click Continue to proceed
- Select your Google account
- Click Allow to grant permissions
Understanding Permissions

Privacy Note: Form2Contacts only processes data when you explicitly configure it to do so. No data is stored externally.
Step 3: Verify Installation
- Return to your Google Form
- Click on Extensions in the menu bar
- You should see "Form2Contacts" listed with these options:
- Start Setup (Connect & Map)
- Manage Contact Groups
- View Usage & Settings
- Help & Support
First Time Setup
After installation, you'll see a welcome message. Click Extensions → Form2Contacts → Start Setup to begin configuration.
Organization-Wide Installation
For Google Workspace administrators:
Admin Console Installation
- Sign in to Google Admin Console
- Navigate to Apps → Google Workspace Marketplace apps
- Click the plus icon (+) to add an app
- Search for "Form2Contacts"
- Click Install on the app listing
- Choose installation scope:
- Everyone: All users in your organization
- Certain groups/OUs: Specific organizational units
- Configure data access settings:
- Allow users to install individually
- Pre-install for all users
- Block individual installations
- Click Install
Deployment Options
- Forced Installation: Automatically appears for all users
- Whitelisted: Users can install if they choose
- Trusted: No additional permissions needed from users
Troubleshooting Installation Issues
Add-on Not Appearing
If Form2Contacts doesn't appear after installation:
- Refresh your browser: Press
Ctrl+F5
(Windows) orCmd+Shift+R
(Mac) - Clear cache: Settings → Privacy → Clear browsing data
- Try a new form: Create a fresh Google Form
- Sign out/in: Log out of Google and sign back in
- Check browser: Ensure JavaScript is enabled
Permission Errors
Common permission issues and solutions:

Browser Compatibility
For best results:
- Recommended: Google Chrome (latest version)
- Supported: Firefox, Safari, Edge (latest versions)
- Requirements:
- JavaScript enabled
- Cookies enabled
- Pop-ups allowed for forms.google.com
Organization Restrictions
If your organization blocks add-ons:
- Contact your Google Workspace administrator
- Request whitelisting for Form2Contacts
- Provide the business justification:
- Automates contact management
- Saves manual data entry time
- Improves data accuracy
- No external data storage
Post-Installation Steps
Once successfully installed:
- Connect Google Contacts: Grant access to create contacts
- Map form fields: Configure which fields become contact properties
- Set up groups: Organize contacts into groups
- Test the integration: Submit a test form response
Uninstalling Form2Contacts
If you need to remove the add-on:
- Open any Google Form
- Go to Extensions → Add-ons → Manage add-ons
- Find Form2Contacts
- Click the three dots menu
- Select Uninstall
Note: Uninstalling doesn't delete contacts already created or affect your Google Contacts.
